For more than fifteen years, Tichawa Vision GmbH has been providing unique solutions to scanning problems. Initially, Tichawa Vision designed and built custom line scan cameras for scientific applications, primarily spectroscopy and dimensional measurement. Then, in the 1990s, Tichawa Vision concentrated on custom line scan cameras for mail processing, supplying high-speed scanning capability to large mail-processing equipment companies. Building on this experience, Tichawa Vision supplied line scan control and image processing systems that have been applied to color sorting for tobacco, cotton and other agricultural products. To answer the need for faster, more compact line scan systems, Tichawa Vision developed the Industrial Contact Image Sensor based on the imaging principles used in commercial document scanners but made bigger, faster, more rugged and more versatile. In response to customer requests, Tichawa Vision then split out the illumination sources and developed a line of linear LED illuminators with lengths to three meters. These products along with extensive experience in custom camera, lighting, software and systems design form the basis of the Tichawa Vision business today.

Line Scan Products

Tichawa Vision has designed and built line scan cameras for a wide variety of industrial and scientific applications using sensor of many types. The current product line includes edge detectors using 16 and 25 dpi arrays of photodiodes, traditional line scan cameras using CCD and CMOS line scan sensors in both monochrome and color and the new Industrial Contact Image Sensors using monochrome and color CIS chips from 100 to 1200 dpi in continuous strips up to three meters long. To complement these imagers, Tichawa Vision builds a selection of high-brightness, computer-controlled linear LED illuminators.
